INDIVIDUALIZED EDUCATION

ACADEMIC LEARNING ASSISTANCE

EVERY CHILD

FEARFULLY AND WONDERFULLY MADE:
EACH WITH THEIR OWN STRENGTHS AND ABILITIES,
SOME JUST NEED A LITTLE MORE ASSISTANCE
Bethany Christian Academy’s academic learning assistance program exists to help students who struggle in school overcome their academic difficulties. With two levels of support, Search and Teach, geared toward identifying potential learning challenges for children in Kindergarten through third grades, and NILD Educational Therapy, a program for students in fourth through eighth grades developed by the National Institute for Learning Development, BCA aims to help students develop the skills and confidence needed to succeed in their education and beyond! Both of these programs are offered to students who can function within a regular classroom environment, but experience frustration in areas related to school performance (poor spelling, illegible handwriting, inability to express thoughts in writing, or difficulty with reading or math). The goal of NILD educational therapy is to move the student with assessed learning differences and those with diagnosed learning disabilities toward independence and success in the regular classroom and to realize his/her God given strengths and abilities.
4TH THROUGH 8TH GRADES
NILD EDUCATIONAL THERAPY PROGRAM
This program provides intensive educational therapy to individual students and small groups that meet for two sessions per week. The therapy techniques selected are designed to strengthen deficit areas, and improve a student’s classroom performance and self-esteem. This program is available to students identified with learning needs through teacher referral and educational testing. There is an additional fee for involvement in this program.
KINDERGARTEN THROUGH 3RD GRADES
 SEARCH AND TEACH
The Search, or the Identification part of this program, aims to identify possible weakness in a child’s visual, auditory, fine motor, and language development. Through a number of fun activities it can be assessed whether a student may be at risk of not achieving the academic success necessary in reading. Teach is the battery of tasks used to address the identified learning challenge. It employs a one on one approach designed to specifically target and strengthen weak areas revealed by the Search.
There is an additional fee for involvement in each of the mentioned therapy programs at BCA.
